Windows 7 Media Center: Is it for you? Probably.
Conclusion
At First glance it looks like the features are really packed on. Truly
Windows 7 media center is the best visual experience to date. However
there are a few minus points to consider. If you are using Vista Media
Center and a non-XBox Extender, you loose the capability to view
netflix, hulu, or any other playon content that was available on your
extender. This is because the tubeCore plugin conversion engine broke
for extenders in W7 and tubeCore folks decided not to fix it (for now).
Also Windows 7 Media center does not yet play well with vendor content
(as most media centers), you cannot just plugin DirectTV, DishNetwork,
or your Cable provider. You can get them to work, but it will take a
little configuring and you may drop HD in most cases.
However if you are using any other setup, there is no reason not to
upgrade as the features are awesome. Windows 7 is simply visually
stunning and is not only packed with useful features it is the best
show off tool around for a high end flatscreen TV.
